Guidelines for forum participation

Glenda has wisely suggested that we have a set of agreed upon guidelines for the forum discussions. Feel free to add below some thoughts on how we'd like to go about formulating this. Here is a portion of a code of conduct I used in a study a number of years ago which was conducted in a forum:
• Ensure a friendly atmosphere to all participants through positive interaction.
• Protect the privacy of all participants. Discussions in the research forums must be kept confidential.
• Refrain from the use of inappropriate language, including profanity, racially/sexually/religiously offensive statements.
• Encourage freedom of expression and the exchange of information in a mature and responsible manner.
• Approach differences of opinion in a respectful manner that acknowledges such disagreement as helpful towards generating alternative understandings.
Feel free to amend/add/completely re-work,
Katie
